When you search for a PC on Amazon or other sites, you will always see it in the product description section.

Example: HDD 〇GB, SSD 〇GB

HDD and SSD are components of PCs and devices called storage.

These are mainly responsible for data storage and recording, where downloaded software and data are stored.

In this article, I will explain about HDD and SSD. Also, I will explain the difference between HDD and SSD.

What is “HDD”?

HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is a type of storage for PCs and devices.

It spins magnetic disks (platters) and uses magnetic heads to store and read data.

It has existed longer than SSDs.

Advantages
  • Large data capacity
  • Low cost per unit of data capacity.

What is “SSD”?

SSD(Solid State Drive)is a type of storage that uses flash memory.

It stores and reads data on a semiconductor device.

Compared to HDDs, it has fewer mechanical components such as magnetic disks.

Advantages
  • High shock resistance
  • Low power consumption and quiet operation
  • Fast read/write speed
  • Small size and light weight

Which do you use HDD or SSD?

This section explains how to check whether the storage used on a PC (Windows) is HDD or SSD.

Open “Task Manager” from the search box in the bottom left of the image.
Select “Performance” and then “Disk.”

※Some PCs may have more than one disk.

Look at the type in the bottom right of the image.

In the image, you can see that Disk 0 is SSD and Disk 1 is HDD.

Also, you can see that SSD is C drive and HDD is D drive.

Conclusion

  • HDD and SSD are components of PCs and devices called storage.
  • HDD uses magnetic disks, while SSD uses flash memory.
  • HDD and SSD have different advantages.

In this article, I explained about HDD and SSD. Also, I explained the difference between HDD and SSD.

This is information you will always see when you purchase a PC. Keep it in mind!
